‘Gub-i’ is inspired by the Korean word gub-i, which refers to the gentle curves and flowing lines found in natural paths and streams. Based on this idea, we developed a simple curved form with a soft, continuous flow and used it as the core design language of the soban.

The legs are created by repeating and connecting three identical modules. Although each module shares the same form, they are positioned in different directions, allowing the curves to appear differently from each viewpoint. Through this repeated structure, the soban forms a balanced and stable silhouette with subtle visual rhythm.

The inside and outside surfaces are finished in contrasting lacquer colors, emphasizing the relationship between interior and exterior. A circular opening at the center of each leg partially reveals the internal structure, becoming both a structural and visual detail of the design.
